Homecoming Week 2010

This is a rather long blog, but it has actually been a rather long (but fun) week. We knew it would be a busy week, because Kate is a senior class officer and they are in charge of homecoming week. She told me at the beginning of the year, that this week would be crazy.

The very cute senior class officers at the assembly.

But this was also a very busy week with tennis--JV Region tennis was on Saturday. Kate lost her first match 9-7 in a battle. She drew a very hard first opponent. But tennis is now over, and what a great 4 years it has been.

Kate was also chosen for All-State Choir. Of course they started rehersals THIS week. Above is the Brighton Choir singing at Burning-of-the-B.

Just to make the week even more exciting, Kate was nominated for Homecoming Queen. Every organization at the school nominates a girl and a boy, so about 30 girls and 30 boys were nominated. The first step was an interview with outside judges. They score points for GPA, school involvement, etc.. She was chosen as one of the 8 finalists.

Waiting at the Burning-of-the-B to see who won. The student body votes to choose the royalty.

Kate was announced as 1st Attendant! We all cheered and cheered!

Kate's fan club at the football game. Mark & Laura, Me and Bryce, Terry & Clair, and Tamie and Mike. Clint and Melissa, Jacque and Dallin and Caroline also attended both the Burning-of-the-B and the football game. They left before the picture.

Royalty was introduced at the football game. Notice Kate's handsome escort.

First attendant for Homecoming King just happened to be Kate's date for the dance, who had asked her over a month ago. What are the odds?

Going to the dance. She got to wear a crown, but didn't have it on yet.

Quite a week. I do appreciate "Team Kate" (Caroline, Jacque, Dallin, Melissa, Clint, Bryce and me) who helped get her ready, coached her on her interviews, did hair, gave ideas for skits, attended many events, took pictures and offered love and support.

I do love my family and friends--they are all royal as far as I am concerned!
