I taught Relief Society last Sunday, and the lesson was on the Holy Ghost. I really love teaching; it causes me to reflect on the topic and my life in ways different than when I am just a student.
I shared a story in my lesson that occurred when I was a freshman at BYU.
I was attending a Tuesday Devotional where President Ezra Taft Benson was speaking. At that time, he was President of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles. I was interested to hear him speak, because I did not know much about him other than his rather extreme political philosophy. I went alone because at that time I didn't know many people at BYU--I had barely met my roommates.
President Benson began speaking about the Savior. The talk was very impressive to me. But as he concluded, something amazing happened. As he bore his testimony of the Savior, I felt a clear and definitive impression that President Benson spoke truth. I had one of those moments that I will never forget and that has made a huge difference in my life.
So--I am glad that I can teach about these topics, because it helps me to define how and when my own testimony developed.
