An Easier Life

I have had a very good day--in fact, a good week-end--spiritually. Bryce and I went to the temple on Friday and I had a nice experience pondering several concerns and contemplating how Dad would advise me. Melissa's brother just returned from his mission, so this morning Bryce and I drove to Kaysville to meet him and listen to him give an excellent talk. Our own meetings were very good, and in fact I found myself "delighting in the words of Isaiah."

So please don't misunderstand me when I confess that I sometimes think that my life would be a lot easier if I were not a practising member of the Church. I in NO way want to live without the church or the gospel. But, my decision each day to be active in the church and to try to live the principles of the gospel test my time management skills, my self-discipline and my personal thoughts on various issues. I am sure that some people never feel this way, and every day find only satisfaction in living the gospel. I am trying to reach that level.

You might point out that in the long-run, living the gospel will make a person's life less difficult. And I very much believe that is true. Living the gospel brings more joy, peace and even control into anyone's life. Not to mention blessings. But day-to-day, my weak self has moments when I think, for just a fraction of a second... And then I push that thought out of my head, and think about gratitude and testimony and choose once again to live a life of faith.

Your post reminds me of the quote from Spiderman. "With great power (knowledge)comes great responsibility."
Thanks for sharing.

This reminds me of a story I once heard: It was something to the effect that a missionary was teaching someone and explaining that those who did not have the opportunity to hear the gospel would not be held to the same accountability as those that had. The person then said, "Stop! I don't want to hear anymore!"

I can identify.

I appreciate hearing these points of view from others because church membership can be very trying in a lot of ways for me too.
