Fall Beginnings

I realize that the middle of August is not fall, but for High School students, the middle of August really does mean getting back to sports and activities--and starting to prepare for the first day of school! Last week, Kate and I both started some new things. I have become a docent at the State Capitol Building. Every other week for about 4 hours in the afternoon, I give tours of the Capitol. I am learning and re-learning some Utah history and all about the Capitol, of course. And I get to wear this great shirt!!!
Kate has started back at her dance studio. With her busy schedule which now includes student government, she is not participating in dance company. But she is happy about getting back to basics. She had to buy new toe shoes and this is her little station where she was sewing on the ties.
Tennis has begun in earnest. Kate is Captain of the tennis team! She is excited that she was chosen, but I think all it really means is more work. She did get to help choose the uniforms, which in my mind is the main reason for being on the tennis team. Great sweats and uniforms. Ha!

A docent! It's a perfect fit! I bet you make history and government come alive for visitors.
My favorite part of my job was leading tours for children.
'Can't wait to visit with you about it.
