Getting Older

Kristi is now 13 years old. That is 91 years old in dog years! She has been such a sweet, nice dog, but she is starting to do some things that are out of character for her. For instance, she wakes up in the night and whines. She just wants to come in our bedroom with us. I would probably let her, but she is such a noisy sleeper that she keeps me awake. So for the past two years both dogs have slept in the laundry room. We have found that if we take her on a long walk, she is more prone to sleep through the night--so that is usually our strategy. She also sometimes goes outside when it is dark, and doesn't come in for a long time. She never did that before. We wonder if she gets lost. One night Jacque and Dallin had to go out in the yard and find her. They said she was laying down by a tree in our scrub oak. Do dogs get dementia?
