Since this is the big rivalry week, I believe a post on football is begging to be created. For the past (I can't even remember when we started) we have been attending BYU home football games with our friends in the picture above. Sometimes if we can get tickets, we will attend the BYU/Utah game at Utah--but not usually. We have had such fun traveling down to Provo, going to dinner or lunch and trying really hard to make it in time for the opening prayer. Don 't get me wrong, we love that they pray at BYU football games. We just have a little fun with the fact that it is probably one of the very few stadiums where the football game begins with a prayer, so we always kid that we know we are on time if we make it for the prayer.
Norm actually graduated from the U, so he compromises by never standing for the BYU fight song. When BYU plays Utah, he cheers for the team that would gain the most by winning. This year he is obviously cheering for Utah!
I think that I am just beginning to really understand the significance of traditions in our lives. I love the tradition that we have created of spending a few Saturdays together each fall. We sit together in all kinds of weather. We visit, we cheer and we share the fun of winning and the frustration of losing. I hope that we can continue for many years to come.
