I announced a couple of Sundays ago, that I was going to blog about Sunday dinner. Sunday dinner while I was growing up was a nice occasion and I enjoyed gathering with my family to eat and talk. Over the years, having various family members who live in Utah or are attending BYU come for Sunday dinner, has created some nice memories.
So, with those happy thoughts, I took a couple of pictures and sat down to eat. Sunday dinner that day did not match my mental image. Instead of happy conversation, we had heated debate. Instead of uplifting gospel discussion, we had rather irreverent speculation. When my children do not agree with each other or with Bryce and I, they are not shy about vehemently supporting their position. I decided not to blog that day--I wondered if Sunday dinner is all that I thought it was.
But then, I decided that our Sunday dinners are never boring. And--my children are all bright and opinionated. And--even though I have the quiet, calm Newman genes, Bryce and my children have the loud, lively Berry genes--and I guess I wouldn't have it any other way.

I am with you on this. Maybe you and I should just have Sunday dinner together!
Oh, how funny! I'm laughing so hard, because Lance can commiserate with you! He comes from the quiet Thornock genes and here comes "loud" and "loving to debate" me. I LOVE hearing about your life and thoughts. Thanks for being so open! It inspires me that you are going through this and that you are sharing it openly. Thanks. Miss you guys.
